Beretta Defense Technologies has unveiled a new automated turret equipped with eight anti-drone shotguns to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure and military installations.

Named LIVET, the system will be officially presented during Eurosatory 2026, one of the world’s largest defense exhibitions held in Paris. The equipment was developed in partnership with the Italian company DUALEE and relies on automatic tracking to combat small drones more efficiently.

The system uses eight units of the Benelli Drone Guardian, a semi-automatic shotgun specially developed to destroy small drones using programmable airburst ammunition. According to Beretta, the technology significantly increases the chances of hitting the target compared to traditional rifles, since drones are often fast, small, and difficult to hit with conventional fire.

Another highlight of LIVET is its automatic tracking capability, which allows the system to keep its aim locked on the target without requiring constant manual control from the operator. Sensors and software track the drone in real time, reducing response time during potential attacks. The platform also offers operational redundancy, allowing the remaining weapons to continue functioning even if one unit fails.

The growing use of drones in recent conflicts, especially in Ukraine, has accelerated global demand for more advanced counter-drone systems. In this scenario, Beretta positions LIVET as a kinetic defense solution designed for the physical destruction of short-range aerial threats, with the potential to be installed at military bases, on vehicles, and around strategic infrastructure protection perimeters.
